The SD950IS is one of the best cameras ever made for the freelance photography business and will suite almost anybodies picture taking needs. It has improved on nearly everything the SD1000 has, and although it could have better uploading options it still is a superb buy. Tons of picture taking modes, optical image stabilization, 12.1 megapixel, and a sleek design. If you have the 400 dollars it's definitely worth it.

This camera has a very solid design and look, the body is very light and has a great quality feel. The quality of the pictures is excellent for its price and class, and the features are great for its price, although canon has a problem with making the settings too user friendly and not enough manual settings, but this is only a slight problem with things like exposure. A face finder, video, and a pretty nice optical viewfinder covers all the basic features. And honestly this is one of the best cameras you can buy for its price and is perfect for casual photo taking and editing. Easily great for Advertisements, logos, and other types of picture editing.

The Powershot SD800 IS has a great look with an all metal body and still only weighs about 5 oz. The manual settings are better than the SD1000 but still don't leave a ton of room for versatile camera options. There is a wide angle lens which is great and the image stabilizer makes for a better photography. Even though this does make for better photos, it isn't that much better than the SD1000 if you are only using it for casual picture taking and editing. But if you are using it more for photography then this is a better choice, and you shouldn't be disappointed.

This is quite a bit more expensive, but it is a semi professional camera and is a pretty good price for what it is. The body feels a bit cheap and doesn't sit in your hands very well but these are minor complaints. This is definitely overkill if you are just doing simple picture taking and mostly editing. This is a big step in the direction of becoming a professional photographer.
