My First Hundred

We got an email from a girl named Ashley telling us that she had her first one hundred dollar day selling digital stock photos. She gave us some of the cred, and told us a bit about her situation. We found it interesting, so we asked her to write it out as an editorial/article for our website. In hopes that it may inspire a few.

My First One hundred dollar day

Hey my name is Ashley and I live in Massachusetts. I have always been intrigued by photography and I quickly decided out of high school that I wanted to be a photographer. I didn't have enough money for college and I can be considered a little stubborn when it comes to getting a regular 9 to 5 job. So yeah, I decided to look for another means of work. Not even a job related to photography, just a job that I didn't have to spend half of my day doing. So I heard about filling out online surveys for money... yeah, that didn't really work. I don't know if that is a scam or maybe I just wasn't doing it correctly. Anyway, I soon stumbled upon a stock photo site, and I HAVE NOT even heard of what a stock photography site is or what it does. I read online that stock sites were kind of like a Flickr site only you make money from your pictures being sold... so I uploaded a couple of my favorites. A few days later I saw that I made some cents, Wooo!

I quickly uploaded as many photos as I could from my computer, in hopes of striking it big. In the next couple weeks a made a few dollars but nothing to get excited over. So I read some articles on how to increase profits, fine tuning my photo collection using Photoshop (I had a cheap knock off version of photoshop) and increasing the number of photos in my portfolio. After several more weeks I was starting to make 10 and 20 dollars a day. When I got up to 50 dollar days I applied for grants and started to go to college. My days were spent going to college, taking pictures and selling them on stock sites. Finally today (well, yesterday now) I made 100 hundred dollars in a single day! So you can see why I am excited. I will continue to go to college taking photography courses and making money on the side with my photography.
